PlumChoice expands to Maine
By Mass High Tech staff
PlumChoice Inc. has brought its remote IT help-desk business to Scarborough, Maine — the company’s first expansion beyond Massachusetts.
The company, which has its headquarters in Billerica, opened its Scarborough Center of Excellence as a regional support and training facility. PlumChoice plans to add another 125 employees by the end of 2009 and could potentially add more in 2010, according to company officials. “Maine’s strong work force and Pine Tree Zone incentive package were crucial to the successful recruitment of this new employer,” said Maine Gov. John E. Baldacci.
In September, PlumChoice received $14.7 million in new funding from Edison Venture Fund and other unnamed prior investors for the sake of growing the company. In addition to PCs and smartphones, PlumChoice says it supports networking, software applications, printers, peripherals, MP3 players, digital cameras and more. Founded in 2000, the company touts that all of its technical consultants are based in the United States.
