L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. reports it has landed $6.2 million for mobile biometric recognition devices from an unidentified customer.
Under the contract, Stamford, Conn.-based L-1’s biometrics division will provide its Hand-held Interagency Identity Detection Equipment (HIIDE) to an unnamed client who plans to use the devices in areas of conflict. Half of the order will ship in the fourth quarter, and the remaining units will ship in the first half of 2010, according to L-1 Identity Solutions (NYSE: ID).
HIIDE is a ruggedized, mobile, biometric enrollment and recognition device that provides real-time identification using iris, finger and face biometrics.
In August, L-1 brought in a five-year, $62.8 million contract from the California Department of Motor Vehicles for technology systems to create secure driver’s licenses. The deal could be worth a total of $108.6 million to Stamford, Conn.-based L-1 if California elects to exercise a pair of two-year extensions.
Also in August, L-1 brought in $9.6 million in orders of HIIDE and PIER systems.
L-1 reported a 2008 net income of $12.3 million on revenue of $562.9 million.
