By Mass High Tech staff
VKernel Corp. has moved its headquarters to Andover from New Hampshire, the company reports. The virtualization software company said it moved to 300 Brickstone Square in Andover from its old headquarters in Portsmouth, N.H., to take advantage of potential partnership and recruiting opportunities after completing a recent round of venture funding.
In May, VKernel closed on a $7.1 million round of funding from return investors Polaris Venture Partners of Waltham and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners of San Francisco, as well as from a new investor, Boston-based Longworth Venture Partners, which led the Series B round. Longworth partner Vilanjana Bhownik will represent the firm on VKernel’s board.
In February 2008, the company landed its first round of venture funding, a $4.6 million round from Polaris and Hummer Winblad. Polaris general partner Dave Barrett and Hummer Winblad managing director Mitchell Kertzman joined VKernel’s board of directors at the time.
Founded in 2007, VKernel makes software designed to enhance virtual server performance, lower operating costs and simplify management.
