Bluefin Robotics moves HQ to Quincy
By Michelle Hillman, cross-posted from Boston Business Journal
Bluefin Robotics Corp. will move its Bay State headquarters from Cambridge to Quincy with the signing of a 53,000-square-foot lease in the Quincy Shipyard.
The underwater robotics company signed a lease this week with Fall River Marine Terminal LLC — an affiliate of Jay Cashman Inc. — to locate its engineering, manufacturing and marine operations under one roof.
The move, which is scheduled to take place in October of next year, is contingent on the company receiving Tax Increment Financing from the city of Quincy. In addition to relocating its Cambridge headquarters from 237 Putnam Ave., the robotics company is leaving space it occupies at 256 Marginal St. in the East Boston Shipyard.
Cashman and the city of Quincy are working to attract new businesses to the Quincy Shipyard, according to a press release. Bluefin is expected to add 90 new jobs to the Quincy community.
Bluefin Robotics was founded in 1997 and manufactures and develops autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV), systems and technology. Bluefin Robotics is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Battelle Memorial Institute.
