Tibco Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) has acquired Bain Capital portfolio company DataSynapse Inc. for $28 million, the California-based company announced this week. The amount was nearly equal to the total invested in the company, according to a report published yesterday.
New York-based DataSynapse makes enterprise grid and cloud computing software for financial services and telecommunications companies. The company’s co-founders, Peter Lee and Jamie Bernardin, will join the Tibco management team.
According to the British technology news website The Register, the company had raised more than $26.3 million in venture capital from Boston-based Bain, Goldman Sachs, Intel Capital, NeoCarta Ventures, New York City Investment Fund, Silicon Alley Venture Partners, Stonehenge Capital and Wand Partners.
The company’s last round of funding came in an unspecified Series D round led by Goldman Sachs, which closed in 2004, the Register reported.
