Digital Reef Inc. has replaced its founding CEO, importing Bob Lentz, formerly CEO at PermissionTV Inc., into its corner office.
The Boxborough-based maker of e-discovery software announced the appointment in a press release this morning.
Lentz replaces founder Steve Akers, who will now take the role of CTO. Digital Reef started up quietly in 2006 on $10 million in funding from Matrix Partners and Pilot House Ventures. The company emerged from stealth mode with an announcement in March.
Lentz left PermissionTV, a Waltham-based maker of interactive video delivery platforms, in March, 2009. Former Lumigent Technologies CEO Clifford Pollan is now president and CEO of PermissionTV.
Digital Reef’s software is designed to provide electronic discovery, data security and storage for unstructured business data hidden in portable document files, digital slide presentations and word-processing documents. The company’s technology is founded on a Linux-based “similarity engine” developed by Akers.
Prior to PermissionTV, Lentz’s resumé includes senior management positions at OATSystems Inc, now part of Checkpoint Systems Inc.; eRoom Technology, sold to Documentum Inc. and now part of EMC Corp.; Xionics Document Technologies, sold to Oak Technology; Individual Inc., merged with DesktopData to create NewsEdge Corp.; and Appex Corp., sold to Electronic Data Systems, according to Digital Reef’s press release.
