Forma Therapeutics, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society partner
By Mass High Tech staff
Forma Therapeutics Inc. and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have partnered in an effort to move the health agency’s research products toward development quickly.
As part of the deal, Forma will help design ten small molecule drugs using its Computational Solvent Mapping technology.
LLS has developed partnerships with other biotechnology companies through its Therapy Acceleration Program, which aims to push treatment toward U.S. Food and Drug Administration drug approval for blood cancers. The science foundation first begans TAP in 2006 with a deal to provide Cambridge-based Ensemble Discovery Corp. with a $400,000 contract to develop technology to locate cells that trigger blood-cancer relapses. In 2007, LLS said that it aimed to increase its annual budget of its new drug-development program to $35 million by 2011, up from a $5 million budget in 2007.
Forma Therapeutics relies on an integrated transformative biology and chemistry-based approach to develop its drugs. It uses a cell-based screening platform to permit the screening of discrete targets in cells. Headquartered in Cambridge, Forma has research operations in Connecticut, Singapore and Beijing.
