Skyscape bought by Physicians Interactive, which is moving HQ to Bay State

By Mass High Tech Staff

Marlborough-based Skyscape Inc. has been acquired by Physicians Interactive LLC of Illinois, a competitor in the delivery of medical information via mobile devices.

No details of the purchase were released. Officials did say, however, that Skyscape is now a wholly owned subsidiary of PI, and the new parent will locate its corporate offices in Marlborough.

Buying Skyscape doubles Physicians Interactive’s physician network and brings in more than one million health care professionals to the company’s database, officials said. Also, PI will be able to develop new tools for health-care professionals and expanded product offerings for pharmaceutical, biotech and other life science companies, both on mobile devices and through the Internet.

According to Sandeep Shah, founder, president and CEO of Skyscape Inc., the adoption of Skyscape’s service by health care professionals had almost tripled this year. Shah will continue to run the Skyscape division of PI.

Skyscape’s SmartLink technology is available on Palm OS, Palm Pre, BlackBerry, iPhone, Symbian S60, 3rd edition (Nokia), Windows Mobile and Windows powered desktop and Tablet PCs.
