Boston-based BzzAgent Inc. has promoted former Digitas executive Dave Dugan to president. Dugan most recently served as senior vice president of strategy and partnerships. Dugan will assume responsibility for the company’s sales, client services and international strategy, while CEO Dave Balter is charged with executing the company’s vision to fuse word-of-mouth with social media. Balter maintains oversight of the overall business. Dugan has spent the past 11 years with digital marketing firm Digitas, most recently leading corporate strategy.

Empirix Inc., a Bedford-based IP communications service assurance company, has named Fred Sammartino as vice president of marketing and product management for the company’s service-assurance business unit and has hired Timothy Moynihan as vice president of marketing for the Contact Center Solutions business unit. Sammartino previously served as vice president of marketing and product management for Ellacoya Networks. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his master’s in electrical engineering from Stanford University. Moynihan served as vice president of global marketing and channels at Envox Worldwide prior to Empirix. Before Envox, he served as director at Intel Corp. Moynihan earned his bachelor’s degree at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, and received his MBA from Purdue University.

360 Public Relations has promoted Stacey Clement to senior vice president, heading 360PR’s entertainment and electronics practice. Clement joined 360 Public Relations in 2005 from Atari Inc. She has 15 years of PR experience, much of it in the video game and broader consumer electronic industries. Prior to working with Atari, Clement was with MS&L/Boston and two New York agencies, Litzky Public Relations and Rubenstein Associates Inc. She is a graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa.
The Onstott Group, a retained executive search firm, has announced that Dave Matheson has joined the company as vice president. He has over 25 years in technology sales and startup management, serving in the fields of engineering, robotics, software and higher education. Matheson joins The Onstott Group after four years at iRobot, where he served as a corporate staff-building consultant and as program manager for iRobot’s STEM Educational Outreach and Classroom Robotics initiatives. Prior to iRobot, he served on the management team of ITechnology Inc., as founder and vice president of Interactive Systems Inc., and as founder and president of Data Collaborative Inc. He earned dual bachelor’s degrees from MIT in management and mechanical engineering.

Silverlink Communications Inc. of Burlington has named Jan Berger as chief medical officer. Berger brings more than 25 years of business and clinical expertise in health care, including more than 15 years as a medical director at both a health plan and a major regional hospital. Most recently, she was senior vice president and chief clinical officer for CVS Caremark. Berger serves on several editorial and health care company boards and is editor-in-chief of American Journal of Pharmacy Benefit.
Education
Michael F. Malone has been named vice chancellor for research and engagement at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Malone has served as dean of the College of Engineering at UMass Amherst since 2004. Since 2003, Malone has also been the Ronnie and Eugene M. Isenberg Distinguished Professor of Engineering. Malone earned his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Penn State University in 1974 and his Ph.D. in 1979 from UMass Amherst, joining the chemical engineering faculty the following year. He served as director of UMass Amherst’s Process Design and Control Center from 1989-97, and again in 2002-03. He has also served on the UMass Amherst Research Council, including a term as chair, and on the five-campus University Research Council. Malone was a visiting scientist at the DuPont Co. in 1984 and 1993-94.
