EMD Serono fields largest-ever team for MS ride to Cape Cod
EMD Serono Inc. reports it has assembled the biggest team ever to ride in the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Central New England Chapter’s Cape Cod Getaway — an event which is in its 25th year that raises money for multiple sclerosis education, support, advocacy and research. The largest MS ride in New England, the Cape Cod Getaway kicked off on Saturday, June 27, when more than 2,000 total riders set off to pedal from Quincy through the coastal towns of Massachusetts’ South Shore to the beginning of Cape Cod. On Sunday, June 28, riders made their way through Cape Cod and finished in Provincetown.
The Rockland-based company says it has put substantial resources behind its participation in this year’s Cape Cod Getaway, including the creation of an intranet site for team members called ‘Reason to Ride,’ weekend team training rides at EMD Serono’s two locations in Rockland and Billerica, and the development of ‘Riding Advocates’ to act as group leaders and mentor new team participants.
Nearly a dozen members of the company’s senior management team participated in the event, including president and CEO Fereydoun Firouz.
