East Coast-based venture partner Roger Krakoff is leaving Sigma Partners to pursue his own IT-focused fund, according to a report (subscription may be required) posted last night on Dow Jones VentureWire.
A representative at Sigma could not be reached this morning to confirm the story, but Krakoff’s Sigma email address returned an automatic reply saying he had left the firm.
According to VentureWire, Krakoff’s new firm, for which he is currently raising a fund, will be based in Boston and will focus on infotech investments.
Krakoff had been a venture partner at Sigma since 2004, having previously been a partner at JEGI Capital, according to his profile on the website LinkedIn.
Krakoff’s investments at Sigma included Indianapolis-based marketing software company Aprimo Inc., and print management software provider NewLineNoosh Inc. At JEGI, his investments included California-based Intraspect Software, which was acquired by Texas-based Vignette in 2003 for $10 million in cash and about 4.2 million shares of stock.
Sigma, headquartered in Boston with West Coast offices in San Ramon and Menlo Park, closed its fifth fund in 2007 at $500 million.
