WHOI names Winslow as CFO
By Mass High Tech staff
Christopher Winslow has been named chief financial officer and vice president of finance and administration for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, effective August 24. Winslow takes the reins from Carolyn Bunker, who retired in April.
Winslow joins WHOI having previously served as CFO of University of Wisconsin-Madison’s research and technology transfer institution, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, where he was responsible for co-managing the organization’s $1.5 billion portfolio.
Prior to his work for the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation, Winslow served as vice president of finance at engineering and research firm the MITRE Corp., in addition to other finance and operations roles in businesses in the federal contracts, sales and financial industries.
Winslow earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College and his master’s degree in business administration from Lesley College.
The WHOI is an independent research organization that focuses on the areas of engineering, marine research and higher education.
In April, WHOI and the Marine Biological Laboratory formed the Woods Hole Consortium to address social issues. The consortium will focus on climate change, ecosystem health and human well-being, while seeking to create jobs on the south coast of Massachusetts by spinning out companies.
