Whaleback CFO Reibold takes CEO role

Whaleback Systems Inc. of Portsmouth, N.H., has promoted chief financial officer Karil Reibold to the role of chief executive officer for the managed voice over Internet protocol provider.

Reibold joined Whaleback in October 2008 and has more than 20 years experience leading technology startups, according to Whaleback. Previously, Reibold served as an entrepreneur-in-residence for Norwest Venture Partners of Palo Alto, Calif., where she was an operating partner assisting with various portfolio companies. She also served as CFO and vice president of finance and operations for Annuncio Software Inc. through its acquisition by PeopleSoft Inc. in January 2002. Norwest was an investor in Annuncio.

Whaleback Systems
is a managed voice provider, developing business phone products and services designed for broadband. The company took a $500,000 debt financing round recently, according to federal documents. Investors in the company have included Castile Ventures, Egan-Managed Capital and Ascent Venture Partners.

The company was founded in 2005 by Cedar Point Communications Inc. co-founder Mark Galvin and Indus River Networks Inc. co-founder Wray West.
