SDL Plc has acquired XyEnterprise Inc., the companies announced today. The deal was worth $14.7 million, according to a report by the wire service Thomson Reuters.

Founded in 1998, Wakefield-based XyEnterprise makes component content management and multi-channel delivery software. UK-based SDL (LON: SDL) makes global information management software, including translation software.

SDL plans to merge XyEnterprise’s business with its SDL Trisoft division, created last year when SDL acquired Belgian software maker Trisoft. The merged unit will be branded SDL XySoft but will continue to do business under the U.S.-based legal entity XyEnterprise Inc.

XyEnterprise president and CEO Kevin Duffy will take the CEO position at the newly combined business unit, according to today’s press release.

Last June, XyEnterprise bought X.Systems Inc., a Virginia-based company, for an undisclosed amount. The move increased XyEnterprise’s headcount to 80.
