MHT reorganizes to drive web strategy

By Mass High Tech staff

Mass High Tech, the region’s leading source for technology news, will shift its print publication to a biweekly schedule in September with a redesigned look, expanded content and a renewed emphasis of daily online reporting, the paper’s publisher, Michael Olivieri, announced today.

MHT also plans to enhance its reporting and editing capabilities by sharing resources with the Boston Business Journal, its sister publication, creating a team of technology and business reporters that will write for both media companies.

“This new daily online model, combined with a biweekly print publication, will enhance the web emphasis we have been working toward for some time,” said Olivieri. “Breaking news will continue to be delivered via the web and e-mail, while more detailed analysis will be available in an expanded biweekly print publication.”

The BBJ and MHT will gain efficiencies and a wider reach by sharing a pool of technology reporters. “While some story concepts may be shared among the two publications, their depth, focus and placement will reflect the distinct editorial differences between the two publications,” Olivieri said.

With almost 31,000 e-mail newsletter subscribers and more than 90,000 unique web site visitors per month, MHT has steadily grown its online offerings, including e-mail newsletters dedicated to startups, clean energy, the life sciences and tech finance.

“We are excited about the our increased capacity to more effectively report time-sensitive stories, while maintaining the high level of analysis and trend-spotting you have come to expect from MHT,” Olivieri said.
