Serial startup CEO Don Bulens will take over the corner office at Unidesk Corp., the Marlborough-based maker of virtual desktop software announced.
Bulens, a former Lotus executive, last year steered Nashua, N.H.-based data storage company EqualLogic Inc. to its $1.4 billion acquisition by Dell Inc. (Nasdaq: DELL), which was the largest acquisition of a venture-backed company in 2008.
Unidesk founder Chris Midgley, who has been the company’s acting CEO, will take the full-time role of CTO. Bulens will also take a seat with Midgely on Unidesk’s board of directors.
Unidesk’s management platform is designed to bring data center-style control to IT departments managing virtual desktop environments and mobile devices. Investors include Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners. Matrix managing partner Tim Barrows and North Bridge general partner Michael Skok hold board seats with the company. The software firm was founded in 2007.
Prior to EqualLogic, Bulens was president and CEO at Concord-based Trellix Inc., a maker of web publishing tools founded by VisiCalc co-inventor Dan Bricklin, which was acquired by web hosting company Interland Inc. for $9.9 million in 2002.
