The Pitch: Chump Studios says it is seeking funding to produce its downloadable video game.
PITCHING THE TECHNOLOGY
Chump Studios is developing an action-puzzle game called “Unlucky Planet: Monsters!” The company calls the game’s aesthetics “cool,” and says the genre in which it operates, casual games, is well-established in the gaming market. Chump Studios plans to self-publish the game — the company says using digital distribution allows developers to cut out traditional publishers and distribute games directly through the console platforms. The company says downloadable games are cheaper to produce, have shorter development times, and can be brought to market quicker than traditional console games. The company plans to distribute the game through the major gaming platforms, such as Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3, and Nintendo of America Inc.’s Wii.
