Braintree-based blood management applications company Haemonetics Corp. has bought applications and devices maker Neoteric Technology Ltd., based in Vancouver, B.C.
This week, Haemonetics (NYSE:HAE) announced that it had acquired the privately held Neoteric as of April 16. Neoteric is a medical information management company that makes a suite of applications to track, allocate, release and dispense hospital blood units. Haemonetics expects Neoteric to enable it to offer a more complete blood management solution to the hospital market. Neoteric’s offerings will be integrated into Haemonetics’ patient division for marketing and sales. Haemonetics also announced that Neoteric’s operations will remain in Vancouver and the United Kingdom.
Haemonetics claimed the acquisition is expected to be neutral to earnings in the first year and accretive thereafter. The company didn’t disclose the exact terms of the deal.
Besides software, Neoteric makes devices and offers solutions and consulting services. Neoteric’s offerings include its BloodTrack suite of solutions, which enable the control of blood products from the hospital blood bank through to the transfusion to the patient. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has already cleared the BloodTrack suite of products for sale. Additionally, Neoteric uses so-called smart refrigerators in operating suites, emergency rooms and other parts of the hospital to dispense blood units with just-in-time control and automated tracking capabilities.
This transaction follows Haemonetics’ recent buyout of maker Altivation Software, an information management software company based in California .
