Startup Watch: Five you should follow

Smart Surfaces Inc.: Cambridge-based Smart Surfaces is developing a mattress intended to lower interface pressure, which is the triggering mechanism that causes pressure ulcers. The company was founded in 2006.

Treedia Labs: Based in Cambridge, Treedia’s media distribution platform combines feed management technology that can handle text, audio and video with social media categorization and organization driven by a community of consumers. The company was founded in 2006.

Wormser Energy Solutions Inc.: Founded in 2007, Wormser has developed a coal-gasification process intended to produce electricity cheaper and cleaner than pulverized coal. The company is based in Marblehead.

Venalytica Inc.
: Hudson-based Venalytica has developed a retail software platform for helping consumers rank purchase choices according to product attributes to be used for predictive analytics. The company was founded in 2008.

WiTricity Corp.: Based in Watertown, WiTricity is developing products and technology for wireless power transfer. The company was founded in 2007.
