Software
mBLAST Inc., a marketing software company based in Mansfield Center, Conn., has appointed David Irving to the newly created role of chief operating officer. Most recently, Irving served as president of Accuity Inc., a provider of payment routing data. Prior to Accuity, Irving was president of Rich Data at SourceMedia Inc. He began his career with a startup that became a founding element of Thomson Financial, where he worked various roles, including president of the Investext Group and later as president of Thomson Financial Securities Data. Irving received a bachelor’s degree in English from Boston College and attended the Senior Management Programme at INSEAD (The European Institute of Business Administration) in Fontainebleau, France and Columbia Business School’s Executive Education Program.

Med tech
Sean Kennedy has joined CIMIT as associate director for programs and technology. CIMIT, the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, is a nonprofit consortium of Boston teaching hospitals and engineering schools. Prior to coming to CIMIT, he served seven years on active duty with the U.S. Army, four years in industry and two at the Mass. General Physicians Organization. He was an ROTC scholarship recipient at Providence College where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the Army’s Medical Service Corps. He earned a master’s degree in telecommunications from the University of Maryland. He has also worked at Walter Reed’s Telemedicine Directorate, Oracle Corp., and IMC Inc. He earned his master’s of public health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.

Services
Samantha Crisp has been promoted to client relations manager for Illuminata Inc., a Nashua, N.H.-based high tech research and analysis firm for Fortune 1000 companies. Crisp is responsible for Illuminata’s client relations department, including customer interaction and outreach, engagements, special events, and briefings. She is also responsible for coordinating podcasts, webcasts and videos. She holds a degree in business administration, with an emphasis on accounting, from New Hampshire Technical College.

Eliane Markoff has joined Graber Associates LLC, as a senior research consultant. Graber is a Burlington-based public relations, marketing, and research firm serving financial, IT, and professional service companies. Previously, Markoff founded Markoff Consulting, where she directed and managed projects for sales and marketing organizations. She has also worked at Compaq Computer Corp. Markoff holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master’s degree in business administration from Boston College. She is a member of the Leadership Council for the Kenneth Schwartz Center at Mass. General Hospital.

Hardware
Boxborough-based Artel Video Systems Corp. has appointed Carl Camenisch as national account manager. In his new role at Artel, he will be supporting current customers with their video transport needs, along with developing new markets for Artel’s video-over-fiber transport platforms. Based in the New York City area, Camenisch has years of experience working with carriers, CATV operators and broadcasters to engineer complex video transport projects. From 1999 to 2008, he held a variety of sales and marketing positions with a manufacturer of video transport equipment. He has been active in the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and the Video Services Forum.

Finance
Specialty finance firm Velocity Financial Group Inc. has promoted Joe Spinelli to vice president. Spinelli will focus on leading new investment opportunities out of Velocity’s Boston office. Spinelli joined the founding team of Velocity Financial Group’s Ventures division in 2007. Prior to joining Velocity, Spinelli worked in investment banking at Harris Williams & Co., focused exclusively on sell-side M&A advisory services for middle-market companies.
