Bay State Deed registries focus on going digital

As deed registries find themselves with less business and more time on their hands, employees are ramping up efforts to digitize and post online all property transaction records. Secretary of State William Galvin, during questioning from lawmakers at a fiscal 2010 Ways and Means Committee budget hearing, said registries would likely always need a “physical presence,” but that putting many of the operations online was feasible. He also said Massachusetts would seek $2 million more in federal funds to help cities and towns replace obsolete electronic voting machines.
