Reading-based Vitalize Consulting Solutions Inc. has bought r3 Health Partners LLC, a California health-care IT consulting firm, according to published reports. Neither company provided financial details of the acquisition, website PE Hub reports.

Vitalize, which is backed by SV Life Sciences and Ferrer Freeman & Company LLC, is a provider of clinical and business solutions in the U.S. and Canada. The company develops systems for project management, reporting, education and knowledge transfer.

Founded in 2005, r3 reportedly has 70 consultants providing system implementations, IT project management, legacy application support and demand reponse for staff numbers.
SV Life Sciences, a venture capital firm with an office in Boston, manages about $1.6 billion through five funds that invest in the biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and health-care information technology services.

Ferrer Freeman & Company is a private equity firm dedicated specifically to healthcare-related investments. Based in Greenwich, Conn., the firm manages more than $900 million.
