Brian Roberts claims CFO role at Insulet

By Mass High Tech staff

Medical device maker Insulet Corp. has announced through its fourth quarter financial statement that it has appointed Brian Roberts to the chief financial officer post. Roberts replaces former CFO Carsten Boess, who will guide the company’s international expansion.

Roberts comes to Insulet having served as CFO of directory assistance service provider Jingle Networks Inc. Prior to Jingle Networks, Roberts held the CFO role at Digitas Inc., a digital marketing firm in Boston. At Digitas, he helped navigate the $1.3 billion sale of the company in 2007 to Publicus Groupe. A certified public accountant, Roberts graduated from Boston College with a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance.

Insulet did not reveal Boess’ exact title within the company, but he is expected to lead the company’s global initiatives, Insulet officials reported. He has held financial and operational positions working for 13 years at Novo Nordisk A/S in four different continents.

Insulet develops the OmniPod system, which is an insulin-injecting device worn over the skin. The Bedford-based company noted fourth quarter 2008 operating expenses that more than doubled over the same quarter in 2007 due to sales expansion, including a national distribution of the company’s OmniPod System, and a move of the company’s manufacturing operations to China.
