The Pitch: MyActiveMind is seeking funding to complete its beta test.

PITCHING THE TECHNOLOGY

MyActiveMind’s product is a patent-pending, educational software-as-a-service platform. The site is intended to teach college students how to learn more effectively, thereby helping college and university administrators retain those students. The company will generate revenue by selling annual licenses to the curriculum and student support decision-makers at public, private and for-profit colleges. The for-profit college market is the first MyActiveMind said it plans to target.

PITCHING THE PEOPLE
Who is on the management team? Jesse Nahan, co-founder and CEO; Marion Rogers, co-founder and chief academic officer.

Have executives been involved in a cashout prior to this venture? No.

Who is on the board of advisers? MyActiveMind has not formed a formal board, but lists advisers including former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift, entrepreneur and Java architect Naphtali Visser, and business development consultant Peter McHenry.

PITCHING THE BUSINESS
How much money is being sought? 
The company is seeking $250,000.

What partnerships, collaborations or affiliations are already in place? MyActiveMind presented at the Center for Women and Enterprise Access to Capital forum at MIT.

None.

What’s the market size being pursued? The company describes its market as more than 6,400 colleges in the United States. MyActiveMind says those institutions comprise a $33 billion market.

Who are the likely competitors, direct or indirect? The company cites Plato Learning as its competition.

Is the company profitable? No.
