Chen Schor resigns from Epix top business post
By Mass High Tech staff
Epix Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Lexington biopharmaceuticals firm, has announced its chief business officer Chen Schor has resigned from the position. Schor’s resignation will be effective as of March 23.
Epix (Nasdaq: EPIX) officials said only that Schor resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Sheila DeWitt, Epix vice president of discovery and manufacturing, will head business development at the company. DeWitt worked as vice president of business development and strategic planning in 2005, when she first joined Epix. Company officials have touted her background in implementing acquisitions, building biotechnology business development and leading strategic alliances.
DeWitt graduated from Duke University with a doctorate in organic chemistry and from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
Epix, founded in 1988 as Metacorp Inc., is a biopharmaceutical company focused on therapeutics through the use of an in silico drug discovery platform. Its lead product, Vasovist Injection, a contrast imaging agent, won approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in December to be used on patients undergoing MRA (magnetic resonance angiography).
