Sedo scores RevenueDirect from Dotster

By Galen Moore

Sedo.com LLC has acquired RevenueDirect, the two companies report. Cambridge-based Sedo, which operates an online marketplace for buying and selling domain names, acquired the Vancouver, Wash.-based domain parking services company for undisclosed terms.

Sedo expects the acquisition of RevenueDirect’s customer base will increase its North American market share, the company said. Sedo also announced an exclusive long-term partnership with former RevenueDirect parent company Dotster Inc., a domain-name registrar also based in Vancouver.

Sedo CEO Tim Schumacher said the Dotster partnership is as exciting an opportunity as the RevenueDirect acquisition. RevenueDirect president John Smrekar said the company is looking forward to “joining the Sedo family.”

The name Sedo is an acronym for “Search Engine for Domain Offers,” according to the company.
