Mass. to get less funding from federal bailout bill

Funds to stabilize the Massachusetts budget from the Senate-approved economic stimulus bill were reduced to $700 million from an initial $1.3 billion as part of an effort in the U.S. Senate to round up enough votes to pass the bill, according to Sen. John Kerry. During a conference call with reporters on Tuesday, Kerry predicted a compromise bill could be hammered out quickly with the House and that funds from the final plan could begin flowing next week.
