By Mass High Tech staff
Aushon Biosystems Inc., a developer of microarray-based tools, has named Joseph Blanchard as chief operating officer of the company.
Blanchard previously held senior level roles in operations management, business development, corporate development and sales. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of business development and strategy at Decision Biomarkers Inc.
Aushon Biosystems develops microarray instrumentation and fluid-processing instrumentation, pre-printed microarrays and custom microarray printing services, according to the company website. Its 2470 Arrayer helps companies develop arrays in a range of uses from DNA to cell lysates, company officials said.
The Billerica-based firm was founded in 2003 by Peter Honkanen and John Austin. It is privately held and closed its first funding round of $7.78 million in December 2006, led by North Bridge Venture Partners and funds from angel investors. The financing supported marketing and development of Aushon Biosystem’s tools.
