Starwind opens Burlington HQ, names new CEO

By Lynette Cornell

StarWind Software Inc., a storage software provider, has announced the opening of its U.S. headquarters in Burlington. The opening comes a week after the announcement of their spin-off from Rocket Division Inc. and their first round of investor funding, led by ABRT Venture Fund, which it plans to use to accelerate sales and assist in marketing efforts.

Founded in 2003, Starwind Software Inc. is expanding their operations, marketing and product offerings. Their flagship product, Starwind Server, is an iSCSI target software that installs on industry-standard Windows servers and converts it into a IP storage area network appliance.

Starwind has also appointed Zorian Rotenberg as its CEO. Before joining StarWind, Rotenberg served as the vice president of corporate and business development at Acronis Inc., a provider of storage management and disaster recovery software.

Previously, Rotenberg worked at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. in the investment banking division, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions. He had earlier worked at NeoCarta Ventures Inc. focusing on technology investments and at IBM Corp. in the software sales division.

Rotenberg graduated from Lehigh University with a degree in finance and with minors in applied mathematics and computer science. He earned his master’s of business admininistration degree from Harvard Business School.
