
EIQnetworks Inc. closed a $10 million round of financing, the company reports. New York-based Venrock Associates led the round, which was the first institutional funding for the Acton-based IT security and compliance company.
Venrock partner Mike Tyrrell joins the eIQnetworks board with the funding. Based in Venrock’s Cambridge office, Tyrrell’s New England investments include Digit Wireless Inc., Endeca Technologies Inc., Everypoint Inc., ExtendMedia Inc., Second Rotation Inc., uLocate Communications Inc. and Zoom Information Inc.
Founded in 2001, eIQnetworks in October announced the appointment of Jim Geary as president and Mike Rothman as chief marketing officer. Vijay Basani is CEO.
Geary previously was president and CEO of Pedestal Software, which was acquired by Altiris for $74 million in 2003. In 2006, Rothman founded independent research firm Security Incite. Basani is a former chief strategy officer at NetApp Inc. (formerly Network Appliance Inc.) and was a co-founder of AppIQ Inc. in 2001.
