Millipore promotes DiVincenzo to bioscience unit president

Billerica-based biotech company Millipore Corp. has appointed long term insider Jon DiVincenzo as president of its bioscience division and a member of its corporate executive committee.

Millipore (NYSE: MIL) announced this week DiVincenzo took the job on Jan.1, succeeding Dominique Baly. Baly left Millipore at the end of December. DiVincenzo has been with Millipore for 15 years, working in the lab water business and the bioscience business.

Most recently, DiVincenzo was the bioscience division’s vice president of global sales and service and vice president of marketing and research and development. When working in Millipore’s lab water business (which was folded into the bioscience division), he held several senior marketing and product management jobs. Before coming to Millipore, DiVincenzo worked for Orion Research, which is now part of medical device giant Waltham–based Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.

DiVincenzo also worked for General Electric Corp. in thermodynamics engineering. He was awarded a mechanical engineering bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University.

Millipore provides technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing. It collaborates with customers on research, development, and production in 47 countries. Millipore’s 2008 third-quarter revenue rose 6 percent, to $395 million, compared to $371 million in the third-quarter 2007. Profit for Millipore was up to $39.7 million, from $36.2 million in 2007. It reported net income of $136 million on revenue of $1.5 billion in 2007.

Millipore employs more than 6,000 people.
