MicroCHIPS adds Robert Neer to scientific board
By Mass High Tech staff
MicroCHIPS Inc., a Bedford intelligent implanted devices firm, has appointed Massachusetts General Hospital endocrinologist Robert M. Neer, MD, to its newly formed scientific advisory board. The board was set up to support and provide feedback on MicroCHIPS’ biosensing and drug delivery in chronic diseases such as diabetes and osteoporosis.
Neer is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and the founder and director of the MGH Bone Density Center, where he focuses much of his studies on osteoporosis-related clinical studies, including the role of the parathyroid hormone in building bone density. He earned his M.D. from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and conducted his residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
In September, MicroCHIPS named Yale endocrinologist and diabetes researcher William V. Tamborlane as the founding member of the scientific advisory board. Tamborlane joins the MicroCHIPS scientific advisory board as professor and chief of pediatric endocrinology and diabetes at Yale School of Medicine. He has served as a member of both the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Endocrine Advisory Board and the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association.
MicroCHIPS addresses chronic medical conditions using the company’s microreservoir technology initially created at MIT.
