Dublin-based Amarin Corp. plc, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical firm, has opened a new research and development headquarters in Mystic, Conn. The facility will be focused on the development of cardiovascular disease treatments, including its AMR101 used to treat hypertriglyceridemia and expected to enter Phase 3 trials next year.
Amarin (Nasdaq: AMRN) chairman and CEO Thomas Lynch said in a statement that the new location will help the company attract U.S. talent in research and development.
News of the physical expansion of the company accompanies news that Amarin also has grown its research and development team by adding George Grandolfi as vice president and head of chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC), and Rene Braeckman as vice president and head of development operations.
Amarin’s cardiovascular disease developments center around lipid science and the positive impact of fatty acids with cardiovascular disease. The company also conducts research into myasthenia gravis, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.
