Medical device startup Seventh Sense Biosystems Inc. has secured $4.18 million in its first funding round, according to an online report.
The Cambridge-based company is backed by Flagship Ventures, Polaris Venture Partners and Third Rock Ventures, website PE Hub reports, citing a regulatory filing.
Seventh Sense Biosystems does not yet have a website, but the Massachusetts Secretary of State corporate database lists Doug Levinson as the firm’s president, treasurer and director. Levinson is a partner with Flagship Ventures. The company database listing also includes on its board of directors renowned MIT professor Robert Langer; Doug Cole, general partner of Flagship Venture Partners; and MIT alumnus Samir Mitragotri of the University of California at Santa Barbara.
Langer and Mitragotri also collaborated on the research behind the founding of Sontra Medical Corp., a Franklin-based life sciences firm now known as Echo Therapeutics Inc.
