Needham-based mobile application developer Mobicious Inc., which does business under its flagship brand SnapMyLife, has raised $5 million in new funding.
The company’s second round of funding, this latest financing was led by previous investors North Bridge Venture Partners of Waltham and Carmel Ventures of Israel, and brings the company’s total funding raised to $9 million.
The money will be used to help the company expand SnapMyLife’s features, as well as to establish a stronger international presence and solidify global partnerships, according to the company.
SnapMyLife is a mobile photo-sharing site that allows users to instantly capture and share pictures from their cell phones, while also building a “mobile community” around those photos. The platform was originally launched in April of 2008, and has since attracted 500,000 registered users and generates 1.5 million unique users per month, according to Mobicious officials.
The company recently launched a photo mapping feature to go along with SnapMyLife, which incorporates location data with photos.
Mobicious was founded in late 2006 by CEO and former Savaje Inc. president George Grey and vice president of marketing and former m-Qube Inc. executive David Chang.
