EMC and Dell sign global partnership extension

By Efrain Viscarolasaga

Hopkinton storage technology provider EMC Corp. announced today that it has signed a multi-year extension of its global alliance with Dell Inc.

The agreement pushed the tandem’s partnership through 2013, and added EMC’s Celerra NX4 storage system to the portfolio of Dell-EMC network storage systems. The integration of the product is expected to be completed in mid-2009.

According to company statements, the pair have executed 60,000 customer deployments through the partnership, which was originally launched in 2001. No financial details of the new agreement were disclosed.

The partnership is designed to allow both companies to combine product offerings in storage environments to achieve economies of scale and best industry practices, as well as pool resources to stay updated with the latest trends in the industry.

EMC reported $3.7 billion in revenue in the third quarter, up $42 million from the previous quarter.
