Major makeover draws Astra Tech to new office space in Waltham

Astra Tech AB has leased the newly renovated 85,000-square-foot office space located at 590 Lincoln St. in Waltham. Astra Tech develops, manufactures and markets advanced health-care devices for single use and dental implants.

The building upgrades include a new curtain wall and metal panel system, a new roof structure, elevators, new lobbies and new mechanical systems.

The renovations were done by Waltham-based Hobbs Brook Management LLC. Boston-based ADD Inc. provided architectural and interior design service while Winchester-based A.J. Martini served as the construction manager.



The MathWorks Inc. has expanded by 44,000 square feet at 1 Apple Hill and by 22,032 square feet at Cochituate Place, 24 Prime Parkway in Natick. MathWorks is a developer of technical computing and model-based design software for engineers and scientists in industry, government and education. Senior vice president Craig Johnston of Wayland-based R.W. Holmes Realty represented the owner of Apple Hill, Atlantic Philadelphia Realty, and the owner of Cochituate Place, LMF Cochituate Corp. President Garry Holmes of R.W. Holmes represented MathWorks.  
 



Ophthalmic Research Associates Inc. signed a new lease for 28,770 square feet of office space at Brickstone Square in Andover. The company is a full-service contract and research firm for the ophthalmic and pharmaceutical industries.

Ophthalmic Research Associates was represented by principal Gregory Klemmer of Winchester-based Klemmer Associates LLC. Senior vice president Matthew Daniels, assistant vice president Christopher Lawrence and associate Brian Tisbert of Boston-based Colliers Meredith & Grew represented the landlord, Transwestern Investment Co.



Boston Color Graphics LLC has relocated its headquarters from Burlington to 755 Middlesex Turnpike in Billerica. The company has leased 8,200 square feet of office space. Framingham-based Parsons Commercial Group Inc. vice president Marci Alvarado represented Boston Color Graphics in the transaction and senior vice president David Gilkie from Boston-based NAI Hunneman represented the landlord, 755 Middlesex Turnpike LLC.
 



At Brickstone Square in Andover, Genalytics Inc., a targeting and custom data solutions firm, leased a 9,704-square-foot office space for its headquarters. 

Vice president Mitchell Jacoby of Boston-based CresaPartners LLC represented Genalytics; senior vice president Matthew Daniels, assistant vice president Christopher Lawrence and associate Brian Tisbert of Boston-based Colliers Meredith & Grew represented the landlord, Transwestern Investment Co.



Broadcom Corp. expanded its space at Brickstone Square in Andover by 9,683 square feet. The company supplies semiconductor technology to the wireless and telecommunications industry.

Volcano Corp. is relocating from its offices in Methuen to a new 5,049-square-foot space at Brickstone Square in Andover. Volcano develops ultrasonic visualization technology devices for minimally invasive medical procedures.

Cairnstone Inc. signed a lease for 6,689 square feet at Brickstone Square in Andover. Cairnstone is an underwriter for the medical stop-loss industry. The company was represented by Richard Ruggiero of Cushman & Wakefield Inc.

Senior vice president Matthew Daniels, assistant vice president Christopher Lawrence and associate Brian Tisbert of Boston-based Colliers Meredith & Grew represented the landlord, Transwestern Investment Co., in all three transactions.



UpdateLogic Inc. signed a new 3,800-square-foot lease at 2 Willow St. in Southborough. The company provides a service called UpdateTV which allows manufacturers to deliver software patches to digital television receiver devices.

ViryaNet Inc. signed a lease renewal for 10,007 square feet at the same location. The company provides productivity solutions for mobile field service organizations in the utility, telecommunications, manufacturing and retail industries.

Trigent Software Inc. signed a new lease for 3,850 square feet of office space at the location to relocate its corporate headquarters. The company was previously based at 1 Apple Hill in Natick.

Trigent was represented by associate Robert Byrne of Boston-based Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC. UpdateLogic was represented by senior vice president and partner Robert McGuire of Boston-based CB Richard Ellis Group Inc.  Firmin Avenue Joint Ventures LLC, the landlord, was represented by president Garry Holmes and Scott Wyant of Wayland-based R.W. Holmes in all the deals.



AVEO Pharmaceuticals Inc. has signed a 7,407-square-foot sublease at 64 Sidney St., in the University Park at MIT in Cambridge. The company now occupies 62,407 total square feet in the office park. AVEO is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on cancer therapeutics.

Executive vice president Joe Flaherty, vice president Tucker Hansen and associate Ben Coffin of Boston-based Colliers Meredith & Grew represented the sublandlord, Alkermes Inc., and partner Jonathan Varholak and assistant vice president Eric Smith of Boston-based Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC represented AVEO.



MediaTek Inc. has leased 49,626 square feet of office space located at the MetroNorth Corporate Center, 120 Presidential Way in Woburn. MediaTek is a semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital media solutions. 

Partner Jonathan Varholak, partner Brian McKenzie and vice president Ron Friedman of Boston-based Richards Barry Joyce & Partners LLC represented the landlord, National Development, in the deal. MediaTek was represented by Grubb & Ellis Co.
