BEZ Systems brings in more fourth-round funding

Database analytics and management software maker BEZ Systems Inc. reports that Ascent Venture Partners has led an extension of its Series D financing round, along with investors Velocity Equity Partners and the Massachusetts Technology Development Corp. According to officials at Boston-based BEZ, the undisclosed amount of funding will be used to enhance virtualization support of its product, as well as for channel development.
BEZ’s product applies predictive analytics to application and database performance to maintain good performance and throughput of key business applications. according to the company.
In January, BEZ Systems landed $2 million in the initial tranche of its fourth round. That funding brought the total VC funding in BEZ at the time to approximately $16 million, according to president and CEO Dan Haley.
Founded in 1983 as a professional services firm, BEZ Systems relocated to Boston from Chicago in 2004. The company’s flagship product, BEZPlus, is already used by customers including FedEx Corp., eBay Inc. and the Krogers Inc. supermarket chain, officials said.
