Giving always the plan at iCorps

How is the economic crisis affecting tech companies?
Network services firm iCorps Technologies Inc. didn’t have to look far to find one of its first and longest-running charitable commitments. Just upstairs from iCorps’ Charlestown offices in the Schrafft building is the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation, which provides entertainment, events and technological aides for children battling diseases.
“We’ve been working with the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation the longest,” said iCorps president and CEO Mike Hadley, “but all of the nonprofits we support are equally important to us.”
Giving back was part of iCorps’ mission plan right from the outset, Hadley said.
“Our mission statement from the start was to be good neighbors and citizens, and help those who are less fortunate than ourselves. When we started iCorps Technologies in 1994, we wanted the company to be both a successful business and a strong supportive member of the community. We realized that the more we gave back, the more successful the company became and this, in turn, enriched the culture within the firm.”
The staff at iCorps gets in on the action as well, Hadley said, and the company keeps them informed of upcoming events and activities put on by many of the charities the company supports.
“We’ve had employees participate in fundraising activities such as races, golf outings, auctions, toy drives and more,” Hadley said. “It’s a great feeling for everyone when an organization and its people can give back to the community and truly make a difference.”
