By Mass High Tech Staff
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded Odyssey Systems Consulting Group a support contract for the U.S. Coast Guard that could bring up to $19 million to the Wakefield-based firm.
The Blanket Purchase Agreement has a five-year term and calls for Odyssey to provide on-site engineering, technical, and administrative support, primarily in the telecommunications area. Odyssey will help the Coast Guard develop plans on how to best use its available radio spectrum and frequencies, process frequency assignment requests, and assist ships and personnel with other spectrum-related functions, according to Odyssey officials.
The bulk of the work will be performed at US Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as in Norfolk, Va.; Oakland, Calif.; Miami; New Orleans; Boston and Seattle.
According to Kurt Nahser, Odyssey’s director of communication systems technology, the firm has been providing technical support services to the Department of Homeland Security’s Headquarters U. S. Coast Guard since 2001.
In addition to its Wakefield headquarters, Odyssey Systems has offices in Burlington, Charleston, S.C., Colorado Springs, Colo, Dover, N.H., Hampton Roads, Va., Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Texas, San Diego and Washington, DC. The firm was founded in 1997 and currently employs over 300 technical, engineering, management and administrative personnel.
