GateRocket’s FPGA debugging rakes in $3M
By Mass High Tech Staff
GateRocket Inc., a maker of verification and debugging solutions for Field Programmable Gate Arrays, has announced the completion of a $3 million first-round funding. New Atlantic Ventures, Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation and Long River Ventures led the financing, along with participation from angel and seed-stage investors.
The funding, which now totals $4.5 million, will be used to add more GateRocket sales and development workers, company officials said.
FPGAs are replacing custom semiconductors, called Application Specific Integrated Circuits, according to GateRocket, which means more issues in matching FPGAs with existing software design tools. GateRocket produces the RocketDrive device to address this issue and direct users to potential bugs early in the design process. Installed in Linux PC systems, the RocketDrive works with Altera Corp. and Xilinx Inc. FPGA vendor tools, as well as design automation tools from Cadence Design Systems, Mentor Graphics Corp., Synopsys, Inc. and Synplicity, Inc.
GateRocket Inc. is a privately-held company based in Bedford -- one of the several companies cropping up along Crosby Drive (see interactive map).
