ATV clears way for $8.6M network decongestion firm Anagran

By Mass High Tech Staff

Local investment firm Advanced Technology Ventures has participated in funding an $8.6 million fourth round financing of California network traffic management company Anagran Inc. California investors ArrowPath Venture Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson also participated in the investment.

The financing will support Anagran’s sales reach and engineering developments, according to company officials.

Anagran produces the FR-1000, which manages the rate of network flow coming from streaming video, file transfers, voice calls and e-mail messages, and ramps up to speeds of up to and beyond that found in 10Gb Ethernet, as described by technology partner Dan Brown of ArrowPath Venture Partners.

Anagran was founded by Larry Roberts, who led the design and development of ARPANET, the forerunner of the Internet.

Last week, Waltham-based ATV announced its $79 million Series C backing of California-based drug development company Proteolix Inc. That funding round was led by London-based Nomura Phase4 Ventures, with additional support from Westfield Capital Management, Latterell Venture Partners in San Francisco, The Vertical Group of New Jersey, and U.S. Venture Partners and Delphi Ventures of Menlo Park, Calif.

Also last week, ATV announced its participation in a $20 million Series D round of funding for North Carolina-based ChannelAdvisor Corp. ATV was joined by Kodiak Venture Partners, New Enterprise Associates, eBay Inc. and Southern Capitol Ventures.
