Networks
Maynard-based network company Covergence Inc. has named Gil Kaufman as its vice president of engineering. Most recently, Kaufman was an executive vice president of research and development at BigBand Networks Inc. While there, he built, managed and integrated a distributed engineering environment across multiple projects and product lines and helped guide the company through its successful initial public offering in 2007. Kaufman has also led high technology product development teams at Cisco Systems Inc., Xyplex, and Motorola Inc.


Biotech
Adimab Inc. of Lebanon, N.H. has named Joanne Sun as director of protein analytics and high throughput purification. Sun comes to Adimab after building the analytical infrastructure for supporting Phase 3 clinical trials and the BLA filing for Angiocept, the first product from Adnexus Therapeutics, a Bristol-Myers Squibb R&D company. Prior to Adnexus and Bristol-Myers Squibb, Sun led the analytical development function at Abbott Laboratories.

Vitale Caturano of Boston has promoted Julie Houle as a shareholder in the firm’s specialized audit practice, Robert Kish as a shareholder in the firm’s technology consulting practice and Robert McDonald as a shareholder in the firm’s tax practice. Houle provides financial statement audit services and assists clients with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, SEC accounting and reporting matters, and financing transactions. She was formerly a manager in Arthur Andersen’s commercial audit practice.  Kish has over 18 years of experience providing business solutions though the use of technology, and specializes in architecting, implementing, and supporting a diverse range of business systems and networks. Kish was formerly a systems administrator for MECA Software. McDonald has extensive experience in the areas of state, federal, and international taxation. He was formerly a senior tax manager for Arthur Andersen.

Wilde Agency, a Holliston-based marketing agency has hired Doug Geer as associate creative director, and named William J. Holmes, who recently joined W.A. Wilde, to provide senior sales support for Wilde Agency. Geer comes to Wilde Agency from Myvu Corp. Geer has also worked on campaigns for a broad range of companies, including Fidelity Investments, Genzyme, Upromise and Dunkin Brands. Prior to joining W.A. Wilde, Holmes served as the vice president and director of connective marketing services at TBA Global, a New York-based business communications firm. Earlier, Holmes held a number of senior positions at Image Zone, a printing and graphics company, where he served as vice president and director of client services and president of Image Zone training. He also held positions with Pinerock Productions, the RJO Group, Viaduct, Schering-Plough Healthcare Products and Fieldcrest Cannon, and he has worked with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer, Merck, Honeywell and other companies.


Finance
David Safaii has been promoted to principal of the private equity investment firm Windspeed Ventures. Since joining Windspeed in January of 2004, Safaii has been involved in more than a dozen investments including transactions involving Gracenote, Camdisco Ventures, Bradford Networks and others. Safaii also serves as the co-founder of VentureNetwork and co-chairman of the New England Venture Network, the largest young venture capital organization on the East Coast.


Life sciences
RainDance Technologies Inc. of Lexington has named Michael B. Olex vice president, system development. Olex joins RainDance from BioTrove, where he was vice president, manufacturing. He also served as senior vice president at U.S. Genomics; president of International Light; director, business projects at Applied Biosystems; and vice president of manufacturing at PerSeptive Biosystems.
