NRG’s wind sensor picked up by California developer
By Mass High Tech Staff
NRG Systems Inc., a maker of wind testing and measurement technologies based in Hinesburg, Vt., has sold a new wind sensor system to Green Star Alternative Energy, Inc., a California-based developer of wind energy in Serbia and neighboring European countries.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded by former American Wind Energy Association president David Blittersdorf in 1982, NRG Systems makes technology aimed at measuring and understanding the dynamics of wind. The company was the first to launch an Internet-enabled data logger for wind in 2002, and it currently makes integrated meteorological towers focused on wind measurement, as well as sensor systems.
While still involved with the company, Blittersdorf is currently the CEO of Earth Turbines, Inc., a turbine manufacturer he founded, also in Hinesburg. NRG Systems has been led by his wife, Jan Blittersdorf, since 2004.
Green Star Alternative Energy (Pink Sheets: GSAE) is working to develop 300 megawatts of wind power in Eastern Europe. The Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in the north of the Republic of Serbia, is the site for the company’s first project, and officials hope to expand into other locations in the area.
Green Star Alternative Energy will use the new sensor system for citing studies in the Vojvodina project, as well as future developments.
