Azimuth adds its wireless networking tests to Belkin’s lineup

By Mass High Tech Staff

Azimuth Systems Inc. has landed a deal to supply Belkin International Inc. with its wireless network-testing devices.

Belkin will use Azimuth’s Ace channel emulator and Adept-N test platform to perform automated tests on its N and N1 wireless routers, and other 802.11n wireless networking products. California-based Belkin intends to increase the amount of devices it tests while reducing the time and cost of manual testing. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In June, Azimuth won the customer impact and support award at the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange annual awards event in Cambridge.

In April 2007, Azimuth was selected by Samsung Electronics to provide performance-testing equipment for the South Korean company’s Mobile WiMAX product line. Financial terms of that deal were not disclosed.

Azimuth makes devices that test MIMO, or Multiple-input, multiple-output communications systems, considered by many to be the foundation for the next generation of mobile WiMAX products. The Acton-based company is backed by investors including Kodiak Venture Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners. Founded in 2002 and backed by $31 million in private investment since that time, Azimuth counts a number of big-name customers among its client base, including Broadcom Corp., Cisco Systems Inc., Motorola Inc. and T-Mobile Inc.
