Goodrich grabs $88M DOD deal for aircraft altitude measurement

Goodrich Corp. has won $87.9 million deal from the U.S. Air Force, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Under the contract, Goodrich (NYSE: GR) will deliver reconnaissance pods, and other sensors, as well as support. The pods consist of a series of sensors designed to detect levels of altitude on military aircraft.
The deal is a foreign military sales contract, with the products being shipped to Morocco. Work will be performed at Goodrich’s Surveillance and Reconnaisance Systems facility in Chelmsford.
New England-based business units of Goodrich received three contracts last year. In June 2007, Goodrich Fuel and Utility Systems, based in Vergennes, Vt., won a $17 million contract for helicopter mechanical diagnostics systems for the U.S. Navy. The unit is scheduled to provide the Navy with 56 CH-53 helicopter diagnostic systems by September 2008.
In May 2007, the company’s Surveillance and Reconnaisance Systems unit won a $37 million contract with the U.S. Air Force. Under that deal, Goodrich produced two reconnaissance pods and one mobile ground station for the government of Greece.
Also in May 2007, Goodrich Fuel and Utility Systems, won an $8 million contract for sensor systems from the U.S. Navy.
Goodrich reported a 2007 net income of $482.6 million on revenue of $6.4 billion. Charlotte, N.C.-based aerospace and defense company Goodrich operates facilities in Chelmsford and Vermont.
