Pyramid Research picked up by TechWeb

By Mass High Tech Staff

Data analysis firm Pyramid Research, of Cambridge, has been bought by TechWeb’s Light Reading Communications Network, a technology and financial analysis media company based in New York. Pyramid’s business will be rolled into Heavy Reading, part of the Light Reading Communications Network responsible for independent market research of the telecom industry.

Under terms of the deal, in which financial terms were not disclosed, Pyramid will continue to have offices in Cambridge. Daniel Schimmel, president and CEO of Pyramid, will report to Dennis Mendyk, managing director of Heavy Reading.

Tony Uphoff, CEO of TechWeb, said that the combination of Heavy Reading and Pyramid Research at least doubles the company’s research portfolio size.

Pyramid Research offers quantitative market research and analysis for media and communications companies in more than 100 countries. The company also maintains offices in Miami, Seattle, London and Hong Kong.
