Technical Communications tacks on $600K order with South Africa
By Mass High Tech Staff
Technical Communications Corp., a maker of secure mobile and landline communications systems based in Concord, has received a $600,000 order for an expansion of its existing system with the government of South Africa.
The deal includes the installation of Technical Communications’ (OTC: TCCO.OB) secure telephone, fax and data desktop system and airborne radio system to the government’s critical communications locations.
The deployment, which is expected to ship this fiscal year, will bolster the South African government’s system and continue an ongoing network expansion that is progressively linking the mission-critical elements of the government, according to the company.
Dubbed The Commanders Network System, the TCC secure communications portfolio is a family of communication products that are designed to provide fully interoperable, highly secure communications between the telephone system and field radios in the land, air and naval elements of the government. The system is used in more than thirty countries for high security communications over the existing telephone and radio networks.
In April, the company was awarded a $5.75 million contract from the U.S. Army to deploy its encryption system with the Government of Egypt.
In TCC’s last fiscal year, ending September of 2007, the company reported $4.9 million in revenue, with a net income of $846,000. In its last reported quarter, ending March 2008, TCC claimed $1.6 million in revenue with an income of $210,000.
