Cisco vet named president of Ipanema

Ipanema Technologies Corp., a French developer of application traffic management systems with its U.S. headquarters in Waltham, has named Reza Mahdavi, former vice president and general manager at Cisco Systems Inc., as president of the company’s worldwide operations. Mahdavi will be based in Waltham in order to be near its growth operations using WAN optimization systems.
Mahdavi joins Ipanema after having spent 14 years at Cisco (Nasdaq: CSCO), most recently as vice president of corporate affairs in San Jose, Calif. Prior to that position, he served as president of emerging countries in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and also as head of global and strategic partners. While at Cisco, Mahdavi grew the company’s business in developing and emerging countries, opened 30 worldwide offices and developed business in 97 countries.
Ipanema makes network optimization products that automatically manage and maximize network application performance in wide area networks. The company has had recent partnerships with BT, France Telecom/Orange Business Services, C&W, Tata Communications and Swisscom.
Ipanema was founded in France in 1999, and opened its Waltham office as its headquarters in the United States in 2006. The company has additional offices in Germany, the United Kingdom and China. The company reports it has shipped and deployed more than 3,000 devices in 75 countries.
