Startup IntervalZero buys Ardence Embedded line from Citrix
By Mass High Tech Staff
IntervalZero Inc. reports that it has acquired the Ardence Embedded software business from Citrix Systems Inc., which Citrix received after its 2006 purchase of Waltham-based Ardence Inc.
Startup IntervalZero — also located in Waltham and made up primarily of former Ardence executives — plans to continue to market and sell the Embedded products under their existing names, officials said.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Citrix (Nasdaq: CTXS) determined that the Ardence Embedded products were not a good fit for its enterprise product portfolio, according to IntervalZero officials.
In June, Citrix Systems expanded its local operations with a new facility in Bedford, which serves as the company’s New England headquarters and home of its virtualization and management division.
Citrix has expanded its New England presence in recent years with the Ardence acquisition and the purchase of Westford-based Reflectent Software Inc. in early 2007. Citrix, founded in 1989, develops application-delivery infrastructure technology. The company claims more than 215,000 enterprise customers.
In 2007, Citrix posted a $214.4 million net income on $1.39 billion in revenue.
